How do I recruit in Asia Pacific when I don't have any contacts?

When it comes to recruiting in Asia Pacific, having access to local recruiters can be the difference between getting the right recruit or setting you back months, if not more.

Choose the right type of recruiter
There are the obvious big guys who have offices around the world, with resources and an army of resumes ready to send to you. We've found that whilst this may be an ok approach, you tend to not get too much in the way of personalised services, particularly if your recruitment needs are small in the early days.
What we would suggest is to seek out 2-3 local, boutique recruiters in each country you are seeking, spend some time with them, get to know them and have them get to know you. An approach that we at MLTG Corp have found quite successful is to have your recruiter become part of your extended team, by having them work out of your office 1-2 days a week. Have them listen in on sales and customer calls to allow them to really get to know you, your style, and your requirements at a personal level.
Whilst this approach may take longer, it will ultimately save you time and money in getting the right resources quicker. And being smaller, boutique agencies, they are far more likely to cut a deal with you to secure longer term business!
If you would like suggestions on local recruiters, don't be afraid to ask us. We'd be only too happy to share our contacts with you.
Good luck and if you want to run your strategy by us, please reach out. We'd be only too happy to chat.
